UN's HeForShe Congratulates Ihensekhien On Her Appointment As PS, Promises Support

 The UN Women's Solidarity Movement for Gender Equality, 

has congratulated Mrs. Joy Ihensekhien, on her appointment as Permanent Secretary, Edo State Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues. 


A congratulatory message by Comrade Ehis Agugu, Focal Person/Coordinator, UN Women's Solidarity Movement for Gender Equality, Edo State chapter, noted that Ihensekhien's appointment as Permanent Secretary is a well-deserved one considering her "dedication, expertise, and exceptional contributions to public service."


Agugu expressed confidence that her elevation to the Permanent Secretary cadre would not only benefit the Ministry but create a lasting legacy.


"As you embark on this new role, we are confident that your unwavering focus on results and your ability to inspire collaboration will greatly benefit the Ministry and the wider community. 


"Your appointment marks a significant milestone, and we believe that your tenure will create a lasting legacy," his statement added.


The focal person, while promising unwavering support of the programme, noted: "Please know that we, the HeForShe Champions in Edo State, fully support you on this journey. If there are any opportunities for us to contribute to the success of your initiatives, we would be honored to assist."

 The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said that the state government will pay government workers salaries on June 14th ahead of the Sallah celebrations. The governor said this during the commissioning of the State Secretariat Complex on Wednesday, in Benin City, the State capital. According to him, “I have heard all the accolades about the minimum wage. I assure the workers that it is not a fluke. We are a very deliberate government that sits back to do our work. You know that for the seven and half years since we came into office, we have paid salaries on the 26th of every month. “In cases where we have holidays, we pay our workers before the holidays so they have money to celebrate.
