NATIONAL COORDINATOR OF CONFLICT SOLUTION ADVOCACY; OSARO ONAIWU JNR. CALLS FOR PROPER CONDUCT AND SECURITY IN THE 2023 SUPPLEMENTARY ELECTIONS.
The supplementary constituency elections scheduled to hold on Saturday, 15th April, 2023 is another chance to redeem our democratic image and restore Nigerians confidence in the electoral process.
We wish to put the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Inspector General of Police (IGP), Economic and Financial Crimes Comission (EFCC), Police Service Commission (PSC) under
the leadership of Solomon Arase and the Nigerian Military on notice to discharge their constitutional duty of shephering our democratic process of choosing leaders as prescribed by the constitution uninterrupted.
The fallout of the last election in some constituencies across Nigeria which was characterised by vote buying, voters intimidation, mutilation of original results and what appeared to be connivance of some security personnel with politicians to manipulate the electoral process remained highly condemned.
This unconscionable and unscrupulous acts did not only put a stain in our nations democracy but it has also helped in increasing suffrage apathy across the country.
The hallmark of democracy remains the free will of citizens to choose their leaders freely as they deem fit without undue interference outside the prescribed legal constitutional landmarks.
Therefore, Conflict Solution Advocacy strongly appeal to the electoral body and our Nation's Security Agencies to restore the hope of Nigerians by conducting a free, fair, transparent and credible election come Saturday, 15th April, 2023.
Hon. Osaro Onaiwu Jnr.
Nat. Coordinator,
Conflict Solution Advocacy
