Okoduwa receives public service award
The Senior Special Assistant on Anti Human Trafficking Issues to Governor Godwin Obaseki, Comrade Solomon Okoduwa has been bestowed with another award of excellence.
This time, the politician cum social activist was honoured by AfricanAge International Magazine with 2018 grand achiever in public service.
The event which took place at the international conference Center
Abuja was organized to honor some distinguished Nigerians who have
made remarkable impact and contribute to the society in their various capacities.
In their separate remarks, Prince Sado A.O Patrick, the publisher of AfricanAge International Magazine and the Executive Director of the magazine, Mrs PS Philomena described Okoduwa as a man who is focus and has passion for the service of humanity.
“This young man has distinguished himself. Upon his return from Libya, he carved a niche for himself. He didn’t go the ways of others, he organized himself and set up an NGO, IYAMIDIR which has become a
household name not only in Edo State but across the entire South-South of Nigeria. He champions the campaign against irregular migration and human trafficking as well as encouraging our youths on the benefits of getting engaged back at home, Prince Sado Patrick posited.
Mrs. PS Philomena added that “His organization has train and empower
some returnees through the help of Edo state government and some multinationals.”
Delighted by the gesture, Okoduwa thanked the organizers for the
honour and promised to sustain his activism especially for the
returnees.
“For me, there would not have been this award today if not my
principal, Mr Godwin Obaseki , the executive governor of Edo State who
has passion, love and care for the lives of Edo people. He has truly demonstrated an uncommon leadership style like no other, he identified the issues and gave us marching order to curtailed the scourge before 2020 and that is what we are doing now with all vigor and energy
because Mr Governor directives must be carried out to the last letter.
He has said never again will Edos be traded in foreign land. Upon his assumption of office he set up a task force against human trafficking,
signed a law to give backing to it. As it stands now, I will say we are winning the fight against human trafficking and illegal migration in Edo state to the glory of God.
“So this award is dedicated to our indefatigable Governor, now
popularly known as “Wake and See” for given me the opportunity to
serve in his government as the SSA on Anti Human Trafficking Issues
for such a time as this.”
Okoduwa continued: “This award will again spur me to do more work, renew my strategy and intensify my advocacy in the year 2019 to meet
up with the mandate of the Governor. We’ll further spread the campaign to remote communities across the three senatorial districts of the
state.”
He said that human trafficking is evil. “If you are caught in the act, you will face the full wrath of the law. It is good to travel, but do it in a respectful and legal way,” Okoduwa warned.
