LIBYA RETURNEES HAIL OBASEKI

… As Okoduwa organises get together party for returnees



Some Edo State extractions of Libya Returnees have commended the state government for their inclusion into SEEFOR welfare programme as well as prompt payment of their twenty thousand Naira monthly stipends.



A number of the returned migrants who benefited in the programme thanked Governor Godwin Obaseki for his unwavering support and care.



The returnees spoke during the end of year get together party organized by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Anti Human Trafficking Issues, Solomon Okoduwa.



Speaking on behalf of the returnees, the Vice Chairman of the Association of Libya Returnees who doubles as Chairman of Edo Libya Returnees Farmers Multipurpose cooperative society, Mr. Festus Okosun and Kelly Iluobe said they are grateful to the Governor for making their Christmas and New Year celebrations memorable.



The elated returnee said “We got Christmas rice, our monthly stipend from the Governor and we also got small alert from SEEFOR programme. We thank the Governor for the opportunity to have a better life.”



According to him, this special intervention program if it sustained will give them an opportunity to plan and be a better persons.



Another returnee, Kelly Iluobe appealed to the state government to assist many others that have not been included in the programme.



In his welcome address, Comrade Okoduwa urged the returnees to be law abiding and shun any act of violence and other social vices that could affect them individually or the empowerment programmes.



Okoduwa who was optimistic of the sustenance of the programmes by the state government charged the returnees to always pray for the Governor Godwin Obaseki led administration saying that “he is the only Governor who has openly received Libya returnees and fixed them into various empowerment programmes aimed at reintegrating the returnees.



High point of the event was the distribution of gift items to the returnees.

 The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said that the state government will pay government workers salaries on June 14th ahead of the Sallah celebrations. The governor said this during the commissioning of the State Secretariat Complex on Wednesday, in Benin City, the State capital. According to him, “I have heard all the accolades about the minimum wage. I assure the workers that it is not a fluke. We are a very deliberate government that sits back to do our work.
