Catholic Priests Reprimand Scandalous Comments, Campaign Against Benin Archbishop
SOCIAL MEDIA BRIEFING!
This is to bring to the attention of the general public that I, Very Reverend Father Alfred Agbonlahor a Catholic Priest of the Archdiocese of Benin City, frowns at what could be described as SCANDALOUS, DEMORALISING, INHUMAN, BARBARIC AND HATE SPEECHES targeted at the personality of our revered Archbishop His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Obiora Akubeze the Catholic Archbishop of Benin Metropolitan.
This whole purported move to dent the name of our Archbishop started a few years ago when some group of persons in the church started accusing the Archbishop of several allegations.
My attention has been drawn to reports on social media, displaying of placards in some quarters of Benin City and pasting of posters just to drag the name of our Archbishop in the mud.
This action by these unscrupulous people is highly condemned and they are hereby warned to desist from such acts or are made to face the wrath of the law.
It is also worthy of note that these unverified claims and spurious allegations are geared towards nurturing demands of thesame group of people to remove Archbishop Augustine O. Akubeze and replace him with a Bini priest as head, for me and those who truly believe in the service of God and humanity, whosoever God has chosen to heads the church irrespective of tribes and inclination, the most important thing is Salvation of souls.
We use this medium to caution those trying to cause disaffection, disunity, and disharmony with their utterances, body languages and unnecessary comments on social media to desist from it, as THE CHURCH IS ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC.
I HEREBY PLEDGE MY UNRESERVED AND TOTAL ALLEGIANCE, COMPLETE LOYALTY AND ARDENT SUPPORT TO OUR ARCHBISHOP, MOST REV. DR. AUGUSTINE O. AKUBEZE.
God bless the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City.
Signed
Very Rev.Fr.Alfred Agbonlahor
The Parish Priest Saint John Vianney Catholic Church. B/C.
IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY OR DO, DON'T SAY ANYTHING OR DO ANYTHING.
Rev. Fr. Pascal Omono Adumbrates..
God in His wisdom uses His chosen and ordained men for His different purposes.
God chooses a shepherd from among the chosen. But out of jealousy from some persons, or maybe some persons do not agree with how He is performing His ministry, or out of tribal sentiments, many starts talking against and about their Shepherd.
What a dangerous mistake they make when they do.
The Bible gives examples of how God dealt with those that rose up and spoke against God's Chosen.
"When Korah and over 250 others spoke against Moses and Aaron, God allowed the earth to swallow Korah and the others. Num.16:2-3. When Mariam and Aaron spoke against Moses, Miriam was plagued with leprosy. Num.12:9-10. Judas turned against Jesus and became miserable and killed Himself".
The shepherd of the Church is certainly not perfect, however, he is a leader of the local church, and appointed by God. He must therefore be obeyed, respected And encouraged. - Murmuring against God's anointed is a sin. -Speaking against God's anointed is a sin. -Murmuring against God's anointed will hinder the effectiveness of the ministry.
Let us therefore stop instigating our people against God's anointed. Let us all lift and support our Shepherd so that God's work on earth would be actualized.
Touch not my anointed.
