To Justify Genocide

Image
by Abraham Oviawe First they said he had amassed weapons of mass destruction. They found nothing. Only stones. Then they started to publish his previous speeches. Inflammatory they said, evidence of violence. They were reminded that there is a law against inflammatory speeches called sedition, which does not consider such a serious offence (provides for maximum two years imprisonment). They were reminded that the man was under trial by the civil court and the law was already on the situation. Then they said he sewed uniforms and that makes him enemy combatant. Uniforms. Enemy combatant within your own country in full view of the police and the courts? Enemy combatant without arms.  Which provision of the Constitution states that? They were reminded that the young man said his uniformed people were to provide intelligence against marauding herdsmen that are rated by the world as the 4th most dangerous terorrist group in the world, and not to confront any civil or military auth...

BIAFRA…Rev. Fr Mbaka splits fire

Image
Fiery Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has called on people to not allow themselves to be fooled by the ongoing call for secession. Speaking in Igbo dialect, mixed with English sentences, the Catholic priest asserted, “I have no time for nonsense.” He said that he is not against the agitation for Biafra, but that he would prefer to see Igbo elite, including himself, at the forefront of the agitation for the secessionist State of Biafra, while the illiterate and the uninformed follow from behind. Mbaka was speaking on the Biafra secessionist agitation. According to a transcription of the video which has been trending on the social media, Father Mbaka says: “Nobody should deceive you saying that Igbo are hated. That’s how we (Igbo) believe nonsense. The poor masses are told to agitate for Biafra. “There is nothing wrong in Biafra. But those that say they want Biafra now (or never) should come out; let us see the cream of the Igbo, then we all will push for Biafra. “Let the crème de...

Catholic Priests Reprimand Scandalous Comments, Campaign Against Benin Archbishop

Image
SOCIAL MEDIA BRIEFING! This is to bring to the attention of the general public that I, Very Reverend Father Alfred Agbonlahor a Catholic Priest of the Archdiocese of Benin City, frowns at what could be described as  SCANDALOUS, DEMORALISING, INHUMAN, BARBARIC  AND HATE SPEECHES targeted at the personality of our revered Archbishop His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Obiora Akubeze the Catholic Archbishop of Benin Metropolitan. This whole purported move to dent the name of our Archbishop started a few years ago when some group of persons in the church started accusing the Archbishop of several allegations. My attention has been drawn to reports on social media, displaying of placards in some quarters of Benin City and pasting of posters just to drag the name of our Archbishop in the mud. This action by these unscrupulous people is highly condemned and they are hereby warned to desist from such acts or are made to face the wrath of the law. It is also worthy of note th...

Edo prioritises improved security to attract investments

Image
…To decongest prisons, reduce number of inmates awaiting trial by 50% To address the myriad of security challenges facing the state, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has vowed to work with relevant security agencies to reduce the incidence of crime and engender a friendly environment for investment. Obaseki said this in his keynote address at the quarterly Federal and State Security Administrators’ Meeting (FSSAM) holding between September 14 and 15 at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Benin City, Edo State. Narrowing down to reoccurring clashes between farmers and herdsmen, the governor said it was wrong to politicise the incidents, noting that the possession of arms by the herdsmen called for increased security measures as “the herdsmen we knew in the past were only concerned about their cows, and had no business with maps. But with what we now witness, it has become imperative to seek the support of security agencies for a safe and secure business climate.” Obasek...

Fracas Betwen NUJ Abia State and Soldiers on Patrol in Umuahia

Image
Some soldiers this Tuesday invaded NUJ Press centre in Umuahia, Abia State capital, attacked journalists and destroyed their handsets and tablets. The press centre became like a theatre of war during the attack as the soldiers stormed the centre in a commandos style and ready to attack anything. The invading soldiers over 20, wielded their arms, willfully destroyed journalists gadgets including phones and laptops. The soldiers were on a show of force patrol around the city centre when they unleashed terror on the harmless journalists. NUJ chairman in Abia, John EMEJOR has condemned the attack in strongest terms and called for sanctions on those that carried out the act. Army Explains: No Fracas Betwen NUJ Abia State and Soldiers on Patrol in Umuahia The attention of 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, has been drawn to social media publications alleging that troops on patrol in Umuahia town have invaded the NUJ Press Centre in Umuahia at about 10.00am today. While it was true there was an issue ...

NIGERIAN ARMY DID NOT ATTACK ANYBODY NOR KILL ANYONE

Image
The attention of 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, has been drawn to fictitious news going round especially on the social media that troops have invaded the home of Nnamdi Kanu and killed 3 persons. This is far from the truth. Rather, it was a group of suspected IPOB militants that blocked the road against troops of 145 Battalion while on show of force along FMC-Word Bank Road in Umuahia town, Abia State at about 6.00-6.30pm, today. They insisted that the military vehicles would not pass and started pelting the soldiers with stones and broken bottles to the point of injuring an innocent female passerby and a soldier, Corporal Kolawole Mathew. The troops fired warning shots in the air and the hoodlooms dispersed. No life was lost. Therefore the public are kindly enjoined to disregard the rumours going round and the fictitious photographs of purported victims of attack. Both the soldier and the innocent female passerby have been evacuated to the unit's Medical Inspection Room and are r...

JUST IN: Aisha AlHassan debunks the FAKE NEWS credited to her accusing Mallam Nasir El-Nasir's involvement in Chibok girls kidnap.

Image
PRESS RELEASE It seems that all sorts of spurious statements are now being attributed to the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development Senator Aisha Alhassan. Apart from a write up on the false allegations that she mismanaged about N12m on the day of her inauguration as Minister,  another false statement regarding Governor Nasiru El Rufai is being circulated. All in a desperate bid to discredit her and cause ill feelings between her and other people. In order to verify the authenticity of the statements, I enquired from Sen Aisha Alhassan  and she categorically denied making any comments, statements or interviews  to the press. The comments going round social media on Governor El Rufai did not emanate from Sen Aisha Alhassan. She is not a security personnel and has no knowledge of the events that resulted in the kidnap of the Chibok girls. By nature and character, she is not the type to divulge sensitive information on the public domain. Senator Aisha also made it...

*MY STATE OF MIND ON EDUCATION*

Image
by Comr Ehiabhi GOODNEWS Hitherto ASUU, NASU, SSANU, NAAT have been embarking on industrial actions to agitate for their interest hiding under the shade of the students interest but after the strike is called off, we return to the nonsense we call education( no offense meant and non should be taken). Observing this reoccurring strike from a holistic view, I will like to say that these strike actions have not yielded the desired result because the interest of the Nigerian students have been used over time as a tool for national embarrassment. I'll give a break down of ASUU strike from 1999 till date for clarity. 1999 -→ 5 months 2001 -→ 3 months 2002 -→ 2 weeks 2003 -→ 6 months → (ended in 2004) 2005 -→ 3 days 2006 -→ 1 week 2007 -→ 3 months 2008 -→ 1 week 2009 -→ 4 months 2010 -→ 5 months and 1 week 2011—3 months(ended in 2012) 2013 -→ 6 months 2017-- 3 weeks still counting Now after these actions, we still live in the worst educational condition in a 21st century. NO MORE RESE...
