Dr. West-Idahosa replies Elizabeth Ativie:

This would be a good case to test whether the affairs of any government can be arbitrarily managed. Ativie's response to the letter of the clerk of the House is a slap on our State and common wealth.

How can a person who spent barely  3 months in office as Speaker now claim to have been given the vehicular paraphernalia of office  as a personal gift. The office of the Speaker is institutional. Such facilities belong to the office and cannot be converted by an individual, not even with the connivance of the Executive arm of government.

There is a known methodology for valuing such cars in the event that the occupant gets the approval of government to acquire same. Was the valuation done? How much did it come to? Did Ativie  pay for the said vehicles?  If the answers to these questions are in the negative, then she is certainly enmeshed in illegality and must be made to account for this crass abuse of office.

I have a feeling that she did not follow due process. If she did, why was the Clerk not aware? Why did the Clerk write her to return the said vehicles. Surely, the courts beckon.

Dr. West-Idahosa.
