Obaseki disclosed this while briefing journalists after the State Security Council meeting held at the Government House, in Benin City, the Edo State capital. The governor, who assured Edo people of adequate security during the election, urged voters to come out en masse to cast their ballots for their preferred candidates. He noted that the State will be very peaceful as all security agencies are on ground to protect the electorates.  The Edo State Government has cautioned members of the public to disregard antics by fraudsters who are operating a portal to obtain details of unsuspecting members of the public to perpetrate a scam scheme. The Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, in a statement, discredited the scheme. According to him: “The attention of the Edo State Government has been drawn to a link to a portal which is being used to obtain details of unsuspecting members of the public to defraud. “The link is being circulated on WhatsApp messaging platform and is intended to scam unsuspecting persons. “The public is cautioned to be vigilant and disregard the link, as it is the handiwork of fraudsters who are out to hoodwink and defraud innocent people. Please kindly disregard the link.”

 A public affairs analyst, Mr. Odeh Ekpoma has called on the Governor of Edo state, Mr. Godwin Obaseki to demand the resignation of all political office holders who have gubernatorial ambition in the forthcoming election in the state in 2024. The governor, however, noted that the move by Shaibu seeking a court order to stop his purported impeachment is preemptive ahead of his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
